There is a big difference between losing weight and maintaining your weight once you lose it. The clients I consult with are totally confused and or mistaken on what they should and should not be eating. So much confusion out there, in print, on the web and on television, that people are misinformed about what to do and so they end up doing the wrong things which serves to frustrate and confuse them even more. I hear really antiquated beliefs people have about dieting and exercise, much of the information they have digested is decades old and out dated. I can make anyone slim down, provided they are a candidate for my program. Certain type health conditions I do not accept and some personality types I do not want to take on. So I have a specific character of clientele that I accept as a slim down client within the 30/10 solution.
Some potential clients in consultation want to fight the process with excuses and denials, on one hand they want to "maybe" lose the weight but on the other hand they do not want to change old habits. "I might want to lose some weight, Dr. Doyle, but don't make me change anything and don't take away the sugars/junk that has caused me to put on these 30, 60, 100
But not all people are like the man described above, many want to play dodge ball and find reasons as to why they should sidestep slimming down right now. "Maybe I will do it in the spring or in summer when things slow down a bit, after my trip to Hawaii, after my kid graduates, after my friends, wedding, after my husbands B-day, after the dinner party next month, after ....."
Bottom line, there is never a "good" time to take the bull by the horns and change your life, much easier to find an excuse to allow yourself to continue to do on into the future, the same thing you have done in the past, that will only allow you to continue to get-what you got.
Not everybody is an easy case when it comes to making that commitment to a program of change, I don't mind that, I like the challenge from a person who wants seriously to change but is fearful and uncertain they can do it. I can easily change the fear and the uncertainty and the false beliefs in a matter of minutes. What I can not change is the person who really does not want to change, I cannot make a person do what they do not want to do. I can only make the process easier and more certain for the individual who really wants to slim down but has a fear of failure or a fear of success or who has false beliefs that they cannot lose the weight.
